This bright yellow beast is the Heybike Hauler, a cargo e-bike with so many bells and whistles it could replace your actual car. If you stick with me on this ride-along and review, I’ll show you all the reasons why I think it can replace a modern car, as well as test the range, top speed, and do a couple of agility and durability tests along the way. One of the first things you need to know is that this bike operates on a 48V system with an 18Ah battery pack and a 55-mile claimed range — well, for the single-battery version that I’m riding, that is.

The Heybike Hauler is powered by a Heybike hub motor that operates at 750 watts nominal and 1,400 watts of peak output. Paired with the smaller 3″ tires, this higher peak output delivers a good amount of power that you can feel during acceleration, climbing hills, or hauling heavy loads.
In practical terms, this means the Hauler can handle tougher terrain or added cargo without losing momentum.
An agile cargo e-bike? 20×3″ Chao Yang Tires
On that note, the Heybike Hauler is equipped with smaller 20” x 3” tires, contributing to its nimbleness and maneuverability. Despite being a cargo e-bike, the Hauler handles with surprising agility, especially in tight spaces or urban environments where quick turns and responsive handling are important.
The compact tire size also gives the Hauler a lower center of gravity, making it easier to control, even when loaded with cargo. The tires also perform well on various terrains, from smooth pavement to gravel paths, adding a nice versatility to the bike.

With each pedal assist level, the speed output gradually increases, culminating in a confirmed top speed of 28 mph. You can also achieve the top speed with the throttle. Inside the box, you’ll find the main components neatly packed. As you dig deeper, you’ll find the necessary tools for assembly, including a toolkit, pedals, and an adjustable headset. Everything is well-organized, ensuring that you have everything you need to get started.
